Yulin Introduction
Yulin is a cultural city with a history of more than two thousand years, and praised as a pearl in Lingnan region with attractive sceneries. Since it is located in the southeast of Guangxi, it is divided into Beibu Gulf economic zone in nowadays. Its advantageous geographic location and natural resources make it a modern city with a well-run industry. in years before, lots of local people go to overseas to look for development opportunities, and now it becomes the biggest home town of overseas Chinese in Guangxi.
Administrative Division
Yulin has a total area of about 12,838 square kilometers, and it is divided into Yuzhou district, Yudong new district, Fumian district, Rongxian county, Luchuan county, Bobai county, Xingye county and Beliu country-level city.
Geography
Yulin in the south of Guangxi, borders on Guangdong province in the east, Wuzhou in the northeast, Guigang in the northwest, Qinzhou and Beihai in the southwest, and it has a coordinate location of about 110° E (longitude), and 22° N(latitude). With the territory of Yulin, there are several kinds of terrain, hill, mountain, valley, tableland, and plain, and hill and tableland covers a large area, accounting for about 49% of the total area, and rocky areas cover 33%. In its northeast stands Mount Darong with the highest peak of 127.5 meters, and Mount Liuwan stands in the southwest with the highest peak of 1118 meters, and its lowest place is about 61 meters above sea level. It has decades of rivers, and the large rivers are Beiliu river, Nanliu river, Qingwan river.
It has a climate of subtropical monsoon, with abundant sunshine and rainfall. It has an average annual temperature of 22℃, and the lowest temperature may be down to -2℃, and the highest temperature may be up to 38℃, and its average annual sunshine duration is about 1,795 hours. It has an average annual rainfall of 1,650 millimeters, and its rainy days amounts to 160.
Natural Resource
Its cultivable land covers an area of 891,800 mu, accounting for about 21.12% of the total land, and forest land covers an area of 1,706,700 mu, accounting for about 41.57%. it has over one hundred rivers which are divided into two water system, Nanliu river system and Yu river system, with a total length of about 698 kilometers.
It has lots of low hills and mountains, including two main mountains, Mount Darong and Mount Liuwan, and its forest covers an area of 10,230,000 mu, with a forest coverage rage of about 53.12%, which provides rich resources in plant, animal, and economic forest.
Yulin has a rich mineral resource, and it finds decades of mineral with a reserve, including iron, titanium, and copper. The biggest minerals are fluorite and kaolin, and its fluorite reserve covers 61% of the total reserve in Guangxi, and the kaolin reserve ranks the first among other cities in Guangxo.
Social Situation
According to statistics issued by government, Yulin has a permanent resident population of about 5,756,000, and the urban population is about 2,720,700 , with an urbanization rate of 47.27%. It is inhabited with dozens of ethnic group, and the Han are the biggest ethnic group, and the Zhuang are indigenous ethnic group. In 2017, Yulin has a GDP of 169.954 billion yuan, ranking the fourth among all cities of Guangxi, and the added value of the first industry reached about 27.69 billion yuan, the added value of the second industry is about 73.41 billion yuan, and the added value of the third industry is about 68.85 billion yuan.
City Flower and Tree
In Yulin, bougainvillea glabra is selected its city flower in 2017. Bougainvillea glabra has many varieties in color, like purple, peach, orange yellow, and white. When it is in blossom season, it has lots fresh and colorful flowers. It has symbolic meaning of persistence. And the city tree is magnolia denudata tree which is tall and has a strong trunk.
