Darongshan Forest Park
Darongshan Forest Park is a national forest park, and developed on the base of Mount Darong which has a main peak with an elevation of 1,275.6 meters, marking it the highest mountain in the southeast of Guangxi. The park is located in Beiliu, 23 kilometers away from Beiliu downtown, and 46 kilometers away from Yulin downtown.
The forest park is composed of mountain, water, and tree. Mount Darong has twenty four peaks, and several of them have a height of over 1,000 meters. among those peaks, there are over ten lakes and decades of streams, and over one hundred waterfalls. The park has lush evergreen trees with a forest coverage rate of 92.5%, and some of those threes are rare trees under protection. The vegetation will be different due to elevation, and there are trees like pine and fir in the lower part, and low forest in the top part of the mountains. It has an enormous area of primitive forest with lots of trees at an age of over one thousand, and has grasslands of several hundred hectares with an elevation of 1,000 meters.
It is divided into five scenic areas and has several attractions for sightseeing. Jiupu valley has a 3-kilometer corridor for ecological valley sightseeing, and featured with clean water, green trees. Along the valley, there are ponds, waterfalls, and lots of plants. Tianhu is a basin among mountains, over 800 meters above sea level, and it has pasture, tea garden and valley. It is suitable for a leisure tour, and in here you may row a boat on waters, and ride a horse in the grassland. Lianhua scenic area has an elevation of about 1,100 meters, and there are grasslands, lakes and waterfalls, and the highest peak, and old sites for sacrifice made to Heaven. Suoluo valley has a breathtaking waterfall with a total fall of about 300 meters, and a biggest single stage fall of 8 meters, and It naturally forms a course for a thrilling drifting which is about 3 kilometers long. For the safety of tourist, lifeguards are arranged along the course. Wangjunshan scenic area has a large area of primitive forest which is a treasury of plants and animals, and has strange stone scenes in different shapes.
Travel Tips
This tour spot has an average annual temperature of 16.8℃~19.6℃, and it is cool in summer and a little in winter. The best tour season is summer and winter, because in summer, it is a perfect place to avoid sweltering summer days, and you may stroll in the grassland, have an adventure in the primitive forest, and have a swimming or a drifting in the streams. In winter, you may see a spectacular scene of rime, which hangs on trees in an immense number, and the scene is like a crystal world.
For your arrival at this forest park, you may go to here through driving to take a bus. If you drive, you may start from Yulin , Beiliu, then Minle to Darongshan. If you take a bus, you may take a bus from Yulin Bus Station to Beiliu Bus Station, then you may take a shuttle bus from Beiliu to Darongshan. Usually speaking, a shuttle bus leaves Beiliu from 08:00, and then every one hour, until 16:00. The shuttle bus leaves Darongshan from 09:00, and then every one hour, until 17:30.
