Qinzhou Introduction

Qinzhou is a prefecture-level city , in the south of  Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and it is  a part of Beibu Gulf economy zone and a gateway from the southwest of China to ocean.

Administrative Division

Qinzhou occupies an areas of 10, 895 square kilometers, and  is divided into two districts, two counties, and has 54 towns, and 932 villages. Lingshan county has jurisdiction over 17 towns and 387 villages, having an area of 3,558 square kilometers. Pubei county rules 15 towns and 254 villages, and covers an area of 2,526 square meters. The two districts are Qinnan and Qinbei districts,  and Qinnan district has 11 towns, with an area of 2,594 square kilometers, and Qinbei district has 11 towns and occupies an area of 2,217 square kilometers.

Geography

Qinzhou is in the south of Guangxi and the north of Beibu Gulf, and it borders on Nanning in the north, Beihai and Yulin in the east, Fangchengguang in the west, and Qinzhou Gulf in the south.

In the terrain, Qinzhou tilts from the north to the south. Its landscape is mainly hill, and it is surrounded by hills and mountains in the north, east, and west. The northwest of  Qinzhou has lots of mountains and hills, and the terrain of its center is basin and alluvial plain; the east is a hilly area of a low elevation, and the south is in a  terrain of down-land and plain, and it has the biggest alluvial plain in Qinzhou, named Qinjiang delta. Hilly areas with an elevation over 500 meter is about 10 square kilometers, and accounts for about 0.22% of total land area. The area of low hills is 2835 square kilometers, and accounts for about 60% of total land area. The south of Qinzhou is Qinhzhou Gulf which is a part of Beibu Guilf, and it is from Yingluo port in the east to Beicang in the west, with a coastal line of 1,478 kilometers, and a total area of about 908 square kilometers.

Qinzhou is in the south of the Tropic of Cancer and the monsoon zones of Southern Asia and Eastern Asia, and it has a climate of subtropical monsoon, with a hot, rainy summer and a dry winter of a little bit cold. It has sufficient sunshine, heat and rainfall. The  average annual temperature is about 22.6 ℃, the average annual rainfall volume is from about 1881 to 2580 millimeter, and the average annual sunshine duration is from about 1514 to 1899 hours. It has six months with an average monthly temperature of over 22℃, and January is the coldest month with an average temperature of over 10℃. Its rainfall is mainly in spring and summer, which accounts for about 80% of the rainfall volume in the whole year. It  suffers meteorological disasters like cold wave in winter, typhoon in autumn, and rainstorm and flood in summer.

Natural Resource

Maowei sea

It has  rich plant and animal resources, and has many rare plants and animal under key protection in mountainous areas, like 22 species of mangrove in coastal areas, and has 46 kinds of minerals proven, and 176 mineral deposits. Its main minerals are coal, ceramic clay, manganese ore, limestone and so on.  It has a variety of marine animals, like cral, sea snail, shellfish, and fish,  and has over 20 species of economic fish. The fish resource in neritic areas is about 4,200 tons, and Maowei Sea has four main aquatic products, oyster, prawn, blue crab, and grouper, and it is also the biggest aquaculture base of oyster in the southern China. In term of water resource, it has a reserve of underground water of about 1.6 billion cubic meters, and the reserve of available water is over four hundred millions.

Population  and Ethnic Group

Up until the end of 2016, Qinzhou has a registered population of 4.09 millions, including an urban population of about 0.60 millions and a rural population of about 3.49 millions accounting for 85.2% of the total population. While the permanent resident population of Qinzhou is about 3.24 millions, and the urban population is about 1.23 millions, with an urbanization rate of 37.8%. In term of population structure, the population of male is about 2.23 millions, while the population of female is about 1.86 million.s

There are dozens of ethnic groups living in Qinzhou, and the Han and the Zhuang are indigenous people in this city and also the two biggest ethnic groups. The Han people scatter in the whole city, and the Zhuang mainly live in Qinbei district. The population of the Han accounts for about 89.3% of the total population, and the Zhuang's population accounts for about 10.3% of the total population.

The natives in Qinzhoiu have their local dialects like Cantonese ( Bai hua) and Kejia dialect, the Zhuang language, and in formal occasion, people use speak Mandarin, like in schools, working places and so on. In this city, there are four religions, Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, and Christianity, and the population of religious believers is about 230,000.
