Bazhaigou Scenic Area
Bazhaigou Scenic Area is located in Dongli village, Qinbei district, and has convenient transportation due to its closeness to a secondary road and an expressway. This scenic area is in a mountainous area and has ecological tourism resources like green mountains, quiet valleys, clean water, strange stones and lush forests, which are beautiful and pleasant sceneries with a huge oxygen bar. Bazhaigou Scenic Area is featured with ponds, and reputed for its natural beauty and fresh air.
Bazhaigou Scenic Area is developed in 2004 by government, and it is said that this area has eight villages in the earlier of the 19th century, which is the origin of its name. Bazhaigou is a river and a water sources of Dasi river, and flows forwards to Beibu Gulf. Stones in this mountainous area are mainly granite, and its vegetation belongs to shrubbery and subtropical broadleaf forest, including plants like pine, bamboo, fir, and banyan, and rare plants like odorum, and erythrophloeum ferdii. It also has many kinds of animals, including monkey, paguma larvata, pangolin, boa constrictor and many birds.
This scenic area consists of many small attractions and activities, and has enough facilities for tour service. Attractions are Yaochi pond, Jiangjun pond, Changshou pond, Jingxin pond and Xinyue pond. Activities has drifting, and swimming. It has many facilities like hotel, restaurant, store, pavilion, plank road, bridge, parking lot and dressing room. This scenic area has two tour courses, one is to Yaochi pond, and another is to Wanshou valley or longevity valley.
Close to the entrance door, there is a man-made lake, named Longzhu lake with a broad area and surrounded by mountains in three sides. In the lake, there are two big waterwheels of an old style which are rolling under the push by running water. In here, you may take a wood boat and float on the lake to enjoy its beauty and quietness. After Longzhu lake, you will see a plum blossom garden and a zone of subtropical plants. The plum blossom garden has many plum blossom trees, which is beautiful in spring flower season, and the plant zone has a forest of bamboo, and many rare subtropical plants. Then you may go sightseeing in Yaochi pond course or Wanshou valley course.
In the Yao pond course, there are attractions like fairy pond, Xinyue pond, Jiangjun pond, Hongshi waterfall, and Yaochi pond. Fairy pond is a big water pond, and it has a depth of about four meters. It is said that fairies would have a bath in here, and its water could make skin smooth, which is suitable for female to have a bath here. Jiangjun pond is a natural swimming pool with a depth of about four meters and a width of about thirty meters. Its name is derived from two generals, Ma Yuan and Liu Yongfu. It is said that General Ma Yuan suppressed rebellion in the south, and his army suffered plague, then he brought his army to have a bath in here and found his soldiers were much better. General Liu Yongfu, a national hero, often came to here to have a swimming in his late times. Yaochi pond is the water source of this scenic area, and its water flows into Jiangjun pond, Xinyue pond and fairy pond.
In the Wanshou valley course, there are attractions like leisure park, Jingxin pond, Changshou pond. This course has a length of about 6.5 kilometers. Jingxin pond is located in the opening of Wanshou valley, and has a length of about eight meters and a width of about six meters, and it is the biggest water pond in Wanshou valley. Besides the pond, there is a pavilion, called Jingxin pavilion. Here is the place to rest your heart, which is why it is called Jingxin. Bailong waterfall, or white dragon waterfall looks like a white dragon emitting water. Changshou pond covers an area of about forty square meters, and has cliffs on its three sides. Besides the pond, there is an old tree, called Changshou tree.
Travelling Suggestion
First, the best travel season is from June to September, since it has abundant rainfalls in this period, and you would have a cool summer day in here. Second, if your tour is in summer, you'd better bring mosquito repellent perfume. Third, for a joyful tour, you may wear a pair of non slip shoes, and bring a suit of swimwear and a tower. Fourth, you may take a tour bus in Qinzhou Bus Station to here, or you may drive a car to here.
