Liufeng  Mountain Scenic Area

Liufeng  Mountain Scenic Area is located in Lingshan county, Qinzhou, 98 kilometers away from Qinzhou downtown, and 120 kilometers from Nanning. It mainly has six peaks, which is the origin of its name, Liufeng. This scenic area gathers natural landscape and cultural sites, like old trees, strange stones, caves, parks, bridges, temples, and stone inscriptions.

This scenic area has a long history, and its scenery is praised by ancient poets and writers. In 1964, a management organization is set up to manage this tour spot. In 1988, this tour spot is officially set and opens to the public. Nowadays, it covers an area of about 540,000 square meters, and consists of dozens of attractions, like Pak Tai Temple, the Great Buddha's Hall, and Sanhai Cave.

sun yat-sen statute

Through the entrance door, you can see a Sun Yat-sen statute, which is donated by Cao Chong'en in 1991, a sculpture master, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Revolution of 1911. Sun Yat-sen, a great patriot, and led this revolution. In 1907, he launched an uprising in the south of China, and his army transferred to Lingshan and had a fight for three days, but was defeated. Besides Sun Yat-sen statute, there is a monument for revolutionary martyrs.

This scenic area has dozens of caves, like Dragon Boat Cave, Sanhai Cave, Ensheng Cave, Chuangjing Cave, and Lion Cave. Dragon Boat Cave is one of the biggest caves, and has a depth of about 40 meters, and a sightseeing course of about 135 meters. In the cave entrance, there is a couplet written in seal script,  which tells that the cave  with a dragon hides blessing, and the cave with a boat has immortals or gods. Inside the cave is a natural stone boat like a dragon boat, and this is the origin of its name which is given by Tao Bi, an officer in 1065.  Except the dragon boat, the cave has many other scenes, and those scenes are rocks with alive appearances. Some are like litchi, and some are like the Eight Immortals.

Beidi Temple or Pak Tai Temple is located in the hillside of Liufeng mountain, and it is first built in 1506, rebuilt in 1991, and sacrifices Xiantian, a god in Taoism. In the temple, there is a bright statute of Xiantian, with a snake and a tortoise under his two feet. The statue is caved from a stone which naturally links with Liufeng mountain.  In the front of the temple, there is a nine-dragon wall, carved with nine dragons in bright colors. In front of the nine-dragon wall, there is a pond with two sculptures of a snake and a tortoise. It is said that the two animals are two generals to the god, the snake is a water general, and the tortoise is a fire general, and the two help the god to eliminate disasters and destructions and bring blessings to people. But there are other sayings about the two animals.

xi ling ming ji

Among many stone inscriptions, there is an stone inscription named “Xi ling ming shan ji”, which could be translated into an article about a famous mountain in Xiling. This stone inscription is written by Kang Jitian in a semi-cursive script in 1776, and it is a travel note of Liufeng mountain and Sanhai Cave, and praised the beauty of this area. Kang Jitian is a calligrapher and also an officer, and he also wrote letters in two memorial archways in this scenic area, one is written with Chinese letters “liu feng bao shan” and another is written with Chinese letters “ling yan chu di”. Surrounding this stone inscription, there are many other inscriptions made by ancient people. In Liufeng mountain, there are over thirty ancient stone inscriptions. In Sanhai Cave, there are over one hundred and fifty stone inscriptions. Those stone inscriptions have great values in art, literature, and calligraphy.

In this scenic spot, you can see great mountain scenery and spectacular cave scenery, and learn about patriotism, experience Taoism and Buddhism culture, and calligraphy culture.  For your departure to here, you may take a bus from Qinzhou to Lingshan in Qinzhou Southern Bus Station, which would take about one and a half hours, then take a public bus or take a taxi to Liufeng Moutain Scenic Area.
