Travel Guide for Liuzhou
Liuzhou is a city with thousands of years, and is inhabited with over forty ethnic groups, and rich in natural resources and culture resources. It has a complete and improved tourism industry, from tour spot, accommodation, transportation, cuisine to shopping.
Before your tour in Liuzhou, you should know the basic information of Liuzhou for the sake of your joyful tour and your personal safety. First you should have a map, paper or digital in hand, to know where you are and where tour spots are. Liuzhou has five districts, three counties, and two autonomous counties. Second, you should know some useful numbers and offices. The Police Emergency Number is 110; the Medical Emergency Number is 120; the Fire Emergency number is 119. When you have any trouble, you may call 110, and police would help you to solve your problems.
It is one of the biggest cities in tourism, and has various tourism resources, natural resources, cultural resources. Inside the city, there are scenic spots, parks and some cultural tourism. Along the Liu river, there is a series of scenic spots, named Bai li Liu jiang, or one hundred mile of Liu river, which is composed of Jiangbin Park, Panlong Shan Park, music fountain and so on. Scenic spots are like Li Yu Feng Scenic Spot, Duleyan Scenic Spot, Que'ershan Scenic Spot; parks are like Eshan Park, Sanmenjiang Forest Park, Malushan Park, Jianpanshan Park, and Hexi Flower Park. Liuzhou has historic and cultural tour spots, like Longtan Park, museum, old city wall, old buildings, and former residences of great people. Sanjiang Dong autonomous county, Rongshui Miao autonomous county, and Rong'an county also have rich tourism resources. The two ethnic autonomous counties have specialties in ethnic tourism, including ethnic building, clothing, custom and festival.
There are some famous tourism resources, which are must-sees for tourists in Liuzhou. Longtan Park and Liuhou Park are two important parks of national levels. Longtan Park is a park of natural scenery of karst. Liuhou park is built for Liu Zongyuan, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty. Bai li liu jiang is also a must-see in downtown, which completely show the scenery along Liu river. Malushan Qishi Exhibition Park is made for strange stones, which displays lots of stones in different and strange appearances. Liuzhou eight sceneries or Liuzhou ba jing are eight ancient sceneries about special landscape of Liuzhou, which are recorded in historic books for several hundred years, and one of these sceneries was visited by a famous traveler and geographer in Chinese history, Xu Xiake. Chengyang wind and rain bridge in Sanjiang county is a must-see, which is the largest and best preserved wind and rain bridge of the Dong. Chengyan scenic spot of eight villages is for a sightseeing for eight villages of the Dong.
In terms of delicious food and snacks, and you may eat some of those local food in Liuzhou. There are some well-known food, like luo si ji, tian luo ya jiao bao and fried small fish with soybean and sour bamboo shoot. Snacks are like luo si fen, niu xian zi and ma da gun. You may go to food streets, shopping centers or small restaurants to eat such food and snacks. For shopping, you may go shopping centers like Wuxing street, Bu bu gao square, and shopping malls like Intime City, and Yin zuo department store.
Accommodation is one of the key issues, and there are various hotels of different types and different prices. Hotels are usually centered in downtown, places surrounding scenic spots and train stations, and places having a big visitors flow. As for accommodation, certificate of identification is a necessity for your checkin, and safety is the top priority, and you should check in a safe hotel in a safe area. You may go to a big hotel like Liuzhou Hotel, Lisheng Hotel, Hua Tian Shi Ji Hand Hilton Hotel, and you may go to a chain hotel or a budget hotel.
Liuzhou has one train station, several long-distance bus stations and one airport. You may come or leave Liuzhou by train or by flight, and the two are convenient and fast. Shuttling in Liuzhou, you may take a public bus, ride a bike, or take a taxi. Taking a bus is the most cheap and safe one, and taking a taxi is expensive but fast.
