Liuzhou Transportation

As a big industrial city, Liuzhou has a modern transportation system responding to its  needs in  development and citizens' travelling, which consists of land transportation, water transportation, and air transportation.

 

Land Transportation

In the intra-city transportation, there is a public transportation system, which has over one hundred lines and bring passengers to every corner of Liuzhou. Liuzhou will have a subway transportation system, which will have several lines of subway under construction. Besides, it has several long distance bus stations and passenger stations, and those regular buses would bring passengers to counties within Liuzhou, and other cities.

Highway and expressway are the main transportation infrastructures to support intra-city transportation and inter-city transportation, which inject vitality to city travelling and meets people's need about convenient and fast transportation. Liuzhou has several national highways, like No. 209, No. 321, No. 322, and No. 323. No. 321 national highway starts in Guangxi and ends in Inner Mongolia, passing four other provinces, Hunan, Hubei, Henan and Shanxi. No 321 national highway links four provinces together, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Sichuan. No 322 national highway is from Guangxi to Zhejiang. No. 323 national highway is from Jiangxi to Yunnan, and it goes through two other provinces, Guangxi and Guangdong. Those highways links Liuzhou with other provinces from west to east, and from south to north, which play an important role in cargo transportation and passenger transportation.

It has several inter-city and intra-city expressways, which bring much convenience to fast transportation. Gui-Liu expressway is from Guilin to Liuzhou, completed in 1997, which is the first expressway in Guangxi. Liu-Nan expressway is from Liuzhou to Nanning, with a total length of 225 kilometers. It has two sections and the first section is put into service in 1998. Yi-Liu expressway is from Liuzhou to Hechi, with a length of 112.7 kilometers and a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Liu-Wu expressway is from Liuzhou to Wuxuan in Laibin city, with a length of about 88 kilometers and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and it is a two-way expressway with four lanes. Liu-Wu expressway is from Liuzhou to Wuzhou, passing two other cities, Laibin and Guiguang. It has intra-city expressways like Liuzhou ring expressway, and San-Liu expressway. San-Liu expressway is from Liuzhou to Sanjiang county.

Liuzhou is a railway junction, radiating Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan and Yunan provinces, and it has several main railways, Xiang-Gui railway, Qin-Gui railway and Jiao-Liu railway, and two high speed railways, Liu-Nan intercity high speed railway and Heng-Liu high speed railway which is from Hengyang in Hunan province to Liuzhou. Railway is the most used transportation vehicle in intercity travelling and inter-provincial travelling. Those trains would bring passengers from everywhere in the country to Liuzhou.  It has three railway stations, Liuzhou Railway Station, Liuzhoubei Railway Station, and Liuzhoudong Railway Station, but only Liuzhou Railway Station is used for passenger transportation.

Air Transportation

Liuzhou Bailian Airport is a military and civil airport, 12 kilometers away from downtown, and it is one of the six biggest airports in Guangxi, which is named from its location close to Bailian cave, an ancient human activity relic.

It is built in 1992 , completed in 1994, and put into service in 1995. The whole airport covers an area of 400 hectares, and the terminal building occupies an area of 7,376 square meters, and its parking apron covers an area of 27,700 square meters. It has a runway with a length of 2,540 meters, and a width of 45 meters, which guarantees the take-off and landing of most planes. The airport is often used by passengers, having an annual passenger throughout of 1.2 million. It has dozens of flight courses bringing passengers to most major cities in China.

Liuzhou Bailian Airport

Passengers may take a special public bus  or an airport shuttle bus to the airport. No. 21 pubic bus  is from the bus stop of medical hospital to the airport, and buses leave the stop from 7: 10, and then every 30 minutes, until 18:10, and the ticket price is 1.8 yuan. Course one of airport shuttle bus is from South Bus Station to the airport, and buses leave the station at 05:00, 08:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, 17:00, 19:00, and 20:00. Course two is from Liuzhou Hotel to the airport, and buses leave the hotel at 05:20, 08:20, 11:20, 13:20, 14:20, 17:20, 19:20, and 20:20. The ticket price of the bus is 15 yuan. The time table for airport shuttle bus may change according to season.

Water Transportation

Water transportation in Liuzhou is used for cargo transportation and tourism. Liuzhou Port is an inland port due to Liu river, and provides services for goods export, cargo transfer, and tourism. It is a large port, and ships of 500 tons can sail in its course all year round, and through Liuzhou port, water course would head forwards to Wuzhou, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.
