Hezhou Population
Hezhou is in the far eastern part of Guangxi surrounded by forest. and was established in 2002. It borders Hunan to the north and Guangdong to the east. The area is 11,854 square km. The average elevation is 800 m (2,600 ft) and the highest is 1,731 m (5,679 ft) above sea-level. Hezhou administers two urban districts and three counties - Zhaoping and Zhongshan counties and Fuchuan Yao autonomous county,each was certified as a "China's longevity village", making Hezhou the only city in China to cover so many longevity counties.

According to the sixth population census data, the total population of Hezhou is 2,231,900 people. Compared with 2,056,800 people in the fifth national census in 2000, the total number of people in the city has increased by 175,100 people, with an increase of 8.51%, and the average annual growth rate is 0.82%. The permanent population of Hezhou is 1,954,100. Compared with 1,965,500 people in the fifth national census in 2000, the total number of people in the city has declined by 11,400 in ten years, with a decrease of 0.58%, and an annual average of 0.06%. the number of residents above the age of 60 accounts for 19.91% of the whole population. There are 68,301 residents over 80 and 474 over 100 years old.
The Household Population of Hezhou
The permanent residents of Hezhou has a total of 495,500 households, and the household population is 1,894,400. The average household size of each household is 3.82, which is 0.46 less than the 4.28 of the fifth national population census in 2000.
Gender Composition
Among the resident population of Hezhou City, the male population is 1,011,400, accounting for 51.76%; the female population is 942,700, accounting for 48.24%. The sex ratio of the population (with women as 100 and the proportion of men to women) fell from 112.9 in the fifth national census in 2000 to 107.29.
Ethnic Composition
The prefecture has a population of 2 million of which 1,630,900 is Han people, accounting for 83.46%, and the ethnic minority population is 332,200, accounting for 16.54%. Compared with the fifth national census in 2000, the Han population reduced by 9700, with a decrease of 0.59%. the population of ethnic minorities decreased by 1700,with a decrease of 0.52%.
Education Distribution
In the resident population of Hezhou, there is a population of 75,800 people with a university (above junior college) education level, 162,900 people have a high school (including technical secondary school) education level, 774,500 people have a junior diploma, and 686,200 people are primary school degree.
Religion Distribution
Christianity: There are some Christ church in Hezhou. they are Christ Church in the Babu District, Christ Church in Lisong Town, Christ Church in Shatian Town, Christ Church in Yantang Town of Zhongshan County, and Christian Family occasion in Liansheng Village of Gonghui Town.
Buddhism: There were more than 7,000 Buddhists registered in 2005, and there are temples in counties and districts, such as the Lion Temple in Huilong Town, Zhongshan County.
Hezhou is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-dialect settlement. Different cultures have merged here, conjuring a unique atmosphere. The city is populated by a number of ethnic minorities. There are more than 20 ethnic groups such as Zhuang, Han, Yao, Miao, Hui, Manchu, Dong, Molao, Li, Tujia and others. Special geographical location and historical reasons have contributed to the convergence of the eight languages on this land. The main languages use in there are Chinese, Zhuang dialect and Yao dialact, among them Chinese includes vernacular (Cantonese), Hezhou Mandarin (Guilin and Liuzhou dialact), Hakka and Mandarin. Hezhou Hakka widely distributed, due to different ethnic origin, to some extent, there is a different between the different towns Hakka.
