Beihai Transportation

Beihai has a busy transportation system, and its land and air transportation brings passengers from Beihai to other cities in Guangxi, and other provinces in China, and water transportation has been well used in tourism and cargo transportation.

Land Transportation

Land transportation is the most used transportation in travelling, and with an aim of user orientation,and the system of land transportation is  dense, and  facilities of land transportation is much improved. Beihai has many lines of public bus, which would bring passengers to every corner of the downtown and it is widely used by citizens in downtown. It has four long distance bus stations, and long distances buses would brings passengers to the whole city, from townships to towns, from towns to counties, and from counties to the downtown, and those buses also bring passengers to other neighboring cities. Beihai Nanzhu Bus Station is the largest long distance bus station, and it has transportation lines to almost all other cities in Guangxi province, and to other major cities in China, like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Changsha.

Beihai has several national highways linking it with the outside. No. 209 national highway is from Beihai, to Inner Mongolia, with a length of 3435 kilometers and it passes six provinces, Guangxi, Hunan, Hubein, Henan, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia. No. 325 national highway is from Guangzhou to Nanning, with a length of 868 kilometers, and it connects Guangxi and Guangxi together. Gui-He expressway is from Guigang to Hepu, a county of Beihai, with a total length of 143 kilometers and a width of 28 meters and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. Sanjiang-Beihai expressway is an expressway within Guangxi, from Beihai to Sanjiang, in Liuzhou. Lanzhou-Haikou expressway is from Lanzhou in the northwest to Haikou in the south, with a total length of 2579 kilometers and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, and it passes through Beihai.

It has one railway station, Beihai railway station, which is in a busy place with a large visitors flow.  The station has transportation lines to all cities in Guangxi province, and it has lines to other provinces, like Guangdong, Guizhou and Yunan provinces. The application new types of train, like high speed bullet train, and increases of train speed greatly shorten traveling time.

Air Transportation

Beihai has one airport, Beihai Fucheng Airport, is first put into service in 1987,  and expanded in 1994, and it has built a new terminal building in 2007. Beihai Fucheng Airport is located in the northeast of Beihai, 24 miles away from the downtown.  It has a runway with a length of 3200 meters and a width of 60 meters. The terminal has a building area of 27,800 square meters, and a design passenger throughput of 2.7 million. It has two floors, and the first floor has ten  domestic check-in counters and two international check-in counters, and arrival at Fucheng airport and  international departure are also in this floor. The second floor has facilities for domestic and international security check, and departure lounge.  Beihai Fucheng Airport has airlines to many major cities in China.

Passengers may take an airport shuttle bus, or take a taxi to the airport or leave the airport.  The course for airport shuttle bus is from Haizhencheng to the airport,  and those buses leave the railway station from 6:30, and then every 60 minutes, until 21:00,  which take 50 minutes, and the price of a ticket is 15 yuan. The price and course information may be variable according to airport management.

Water Transportation

Beihai international Port is built in 1998, and it is a comprehensive port providing services in passenger transportation, catering, shopping and so on.  In passenger transportation, it has courses to Weizhou  Island and Haikou. The ships to Weizhou Island leaves the port at 8:30, 10:00, 12:00, 15:20 and 17:30, and fast ships would arrive the island after about one hour, and slow ships to the island take two to three hours. The timetable may be changed according to actual need. The ships to Haikou leave the port at 19:00, and arrive Haikou at 6:00. In cargo transportation, Beihai International Port has business with over two hundred ports, and it has four berths for ships with a weight over ten thousand tons, and sixteen berths for ships with a weight over five thousand tons.
