Guilin Transportation

Guilin is a tourism city with convenient transportation, in land and air. Its transportation net covers the whole city, and provides great convenience to people's travelling.

Land Ttransportation

Guilin has five national highways, No. 321, No. 322, No. 323, No. 357 and No. 241. No. 321 national highway links four provinces together, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Sichuan. No. 322 national highway is from Guangxi to Zhejiang. No 323 national highway is from Jiangxi to Yunnan, and it goes through two other provinces, Guangxi and Guangdong. No. 357 national highway is from Fujian province to Yunnan Province, through Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangxi province. No. 241 national highway is a highway from Guangxi in the south to Inner Mongolia in the north of China, and it goes through four other provinces, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, and Shanxi. Through these highways, passengers can go to many provinces from Guilin.

There are several inter-provincial expressways through Guilin. Quan-Nan expressway is from Quanzhou, Fujian province to Nanning, Guangxi province, with a total length of 1635 kilometers. Bao-Mao expressway is from Baotou,  Inner Mongolia province to Maoming, Guangdong province, with a total length of 3,130 kilometers. It goes through eight provinces, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hunan, Guangxi and Guangdong. Xia-Rong expressway is from Xiamen, Fujian province to Chengdu, Sichuan province, with a total length of 2,295 kilometers and it goes through six provinces, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, and Sichuan province.  These expressways link the east with the west, and link the south with the north, and through those expressways, people from other provinces can drive to Guilin for travelling, and people in Guilin can go to other provinces by car. These expressways have great importance to Guilin tourism. Still, there are  intra-city expressways, like airport expressway, and Guiln ring expressway, expressways and highways from downtown to other counties in Guilin, and expressways and highways from counties to counties. Those expressways and highways closely link every parts of Guilin  together, and would save traveling time and money for  people.

Railway is one of the most used transportation, which has the biggest passenger flow. Guilin has several interprovincial rails: rails from the south to the north, like Hu-Nan rail which is from Guangxi to Inner Mongolia , and  rails from the west to the east, like Kun-Tai rail which is from Yunnan to Taiwan. In Guilin, travelers can take trains from Guilin to directly all provinces in China except Tibet. High speed trains and high speed bullet trains can bring travelers from Guilin to lots of major cities in China, and high speed bullet trains are the main type of trains travelling from Guilin to all other cities in Guangxi within several hours, which are frequently used by people. Guilin has three railway stations of city level for passenger use, Guilin Railway Station, Guilinbei Railway Station, and Guilinxi Railway Station, and the first two stations are busier than the last one, and they have more travelling lines. It has six railway stations of county level: Wutong Railway Station, Quanzhounan Railway Station, Xing'anbei Railway Station, YongfunanRailway Station, Yangshuo Railway Stationand Gongcheng Railway Station.

Guilin has several long-distance bus stations, and they have regular buses which would bring people to other cities in Guangxi, and some cities in neighboring provinces, and they also have regular buses of short distance travelling within Guilin and bringing passengers to counties in Guilin. Guilin has a busy transportation system for public bus which travels in several districts of Guilin, and the bus ticket is about two yuan per person. However, Guilin doesn't have subway so far.

Air Transportation

Guilin has an airport, Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, located in Lingui district, and 28 kilometers to the downtown. It is built in 1993 an completed and put into service in 1996, and becomes the fourth 4F class airport in China. It is the biggest airport in the southwest of China, and it has  implemented a policy of 72-hour visa-free transit to people of 51 countries since July, 2017.  It has a passenger throughput of 7.86 million in 2017, and has 112 domestic and international flight courses to 76 cities home and abroad. The nonstop domestic flights bring passengers to major cities in all provinces except Tibet. It has international flights to countries many countries, like British, French, Germany, America, Canana, Japan, South Korea, Australia , Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Phillippines.

This airport is in the outskirt of Guilin, and travelers may take an airport shuttle bus to the airport. Here are several regular lines of airport shuttle bus from the downtown to the airport. Course one is from the civil aviation hotel to the airport, and buses leave the hotel from 6: 00, and then every 30 minutes, until 21:30, which take 50 minutes and cost 20 yuan per person. Course two is from Guilinbei Railway Station to the airport, and buses leave the station from 7: 30, and then every 60 minutes, until 18:30, which take 60 minutes and cost 20 yuan per person. Course three is from Wanfu plaza to the airport, and buses leave the plaza from 8: 00, and then every 2 hours, until 17:00, which take 60 minutes and cost 20 yuan per person. It also have airport shuttle buses from Guilin to Liuzhou, Hezhou, Yangshuo and Lipu.
