Guilin Landmark

Guilin is the third biggest city in Guangxi, and it has landmark buildings which can be divided into historical landmark buildings and modern landmark buildings like, the Sun and Moon Pagodas, and the complex of Guilin Grand Theater, Guilin Library and  Guilin Museum.  It also has cultural and scenic landmarks, which become the symbols of Guilin.

The Sun and Moon Pagodas situates in the Shanhu lake, Guilin, and consists of two pagodas, the Sun pagoda and Moon pagoda. The Sun pagoda is in the center of the lake, 41 meters and 9 floors, and all of its components are made from plain brass, and it looks in golden, so it is also named golden pagoda. The Sun pagoda is the highest brass pagoda in the world, and the highest pagoda standing in a lake.  The Moon pagoda is 35 meters high and 7 floors, which is decorated by colored glaze, so it is also named silver pagoda. The two pagodas are linked by a tunnel of 10 meters under the lake.

Jingjiang Prince's Palace

Jingjiang Prince's Palace is a historical site in the inner city of Guilin, close to mountain Duxiufeng, and it is the mansion of Zhu Shouqian,  who is the relative of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang in the Ming Dynasty (1368AD-1644AD), and the seigneur of Jingjiang, an old name of Guilin, and 12 Jingjiang kings had lived in here for 280 years in the Ming dynasty. It is built in 1372 and completed in 1392, 556 meters long, 355 meters wide, and covers an area of 197.8 thousand square meters. It has a wall made from stone, 5.5 meters thick, 8 meters high, and 3 kilometers long, and four doors. In the Qin Dynasty, government set an examination on its old site, which cultivates lots of talents.

Xiaoyao  Tower is in the riverside of Li River, and from the top floor of it, tourists can have a view about Guilin's beautiful scenery. It was first built in 621 AD, with a history of over one thousand years, it was ruined and rebuilt for several times, and last it was ruined in the Anti-Japanese War. In 2015,  it was rebuilt, and now it is a building of two floors, 24 meters high , 22 meters long and 22 meters wide. It is close to Jiefang Bridge, which is also a tourist attraction.

The complex of Guilin Grand Theater, Guilin Library and  Guilin Museum is in Lingui new district, Guilin, designed by Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University CO. LTD, which is grand and modern complex, and its design is very beautiful and eye-catching. The Grand Theater has an overall floorage of 19,000 square meters, and it includes a main theater with 1,500 seats, lobby, auditorium, stage and so on. Guilin Museum covers an area of 31,300 square meters, and Guilin Library covers an area of about 31,500 square meters. The center of this complex is a tower, which has a bird's eye view of Guilin.

Elephant Trunk Hill

Elephant Trunk Hill is a scenery landmark of Guilin, and is named from its appearance like an elephant in drinking water. It is an attraction in the inner city, and situates in the meeting places of Li river and Taohua river. Elephant Trunk Hill  Scenic Spot has several attrations, like water and moon cave, elephant eye cave, Puxian tower, Sheli tower and so on. From the Tang Dynasty,  it is a tourist attraction, and many poets had written poems about it and its name is from a poem. Water and moon cave, is where the elephant trunk is. Between the elephant trunk and elephant leg, there is a round cave, 17 meters long, 9.5 meters wide, 12meters high. In the cave, there are over 50 stone inscriptions, and the biggest is 257 centimeters high, and 754 centimeters wide. Sheli Tower surrounding this attraction is in the old site of Kuaiyuan temple, the oldest temple in Guilin, and the tower is 13.2 meters high, and built in the Tang Dynasty, and rebuilt in the Song Dynasty.
