Guangxi Weather

Guangxi is in the south of China, with the tropic of cancer though the center of it. It has a typical climate of subtropical monsoon, hot and humid in summer, and mild in winter. The north of Guangxi is a mountainous area, and the south is more flat in ground, and has basins and flatlands. Still the south faces to the South China Sea and belongs to the tropical zone, which makes the south hotter and more humid than the north.

Guangxi is almost warm in the whole year, with a lowest temperature of  -8.4-2.9℃, and a highest temperature of 33.7-42.5℃, and an average temperature of 16.5-23.1℃.  The south is hotter than the north in the whole year, and the north is much colder than the north in the winter. In the winter, it may be cold, because it is influenced by cold air from the north of the Earth and the temperature may drop a lot. In the summer, it may be hot and humid, because the sun’s ray shine directly over the northern hemisphere, and the warm air from ocean brings water vapor.

In Guangxi, spring is from March to May, summer is from June to August, autumn is from September to November, and winter is from December to February. In spring, it is warm and rains a lot, but it is light rain. When it rains, it lasts for several days or for dozens of days. Due to the rainy weather, it is wet and walls may be covered with lots of water drops as if the walls sweat;  and things are easily to get mildewed because of continuous rain and lack of sunshine. Therefore, here are two pieces of friendly advice for you: when you go out, you should bring umbrella; keep things dry and clean for the sake of sanitation, especially food and clothing.  Moreover, spring is the season for flowering, and it would be pollen in the air, and Guangxi has a high green coverage ratio and has a variety of flower and plant, so you may wear a mask if you are allergy to pollen. The season may easily cause troubles for your skin, like skin allergy, so you should be extra attention to hygiene and health, and prepare some drugs ahead of time. If your tour in Guangxi is in a spring day, you are suggested to see flowers in a park, or in a street tree.

From June to August, Guangxi are in summer. In this period, the sun’s ray shine directly over the northern hemisphere, the daytime is longer than the time of night, and it is hot in the whole Guangxi, and it may has an extreme hot temperature over 35℃. Thus you should wear sun cream to protect your skin and wear sunglass to protect your eyes, and you may need a sun umbrella and bring bottles of water when you go out. In summer, the whole Guangxi is influenced by the warm air from ocean, which brings lots of water vapor to Guangxi, ant it is also influenced by typhoon which takes place frequently and is strong, intense in summer and has devastating impact,  it would rain a lot , and it is usually heavy rains. The heavy and torrential rain may bring flood, and traffic problems, which need your special attention.  Before going out, you may need to check weather forecast to prepare your wearing. As the tropic of cancer goes through Guangxi and it has abundant rainfalls,  Guangxi is a perfect living place for plant and animal, like mosquito and snake. In summer,  mosquito are everywhere, especially in rural areas, forest and wet places, and they may be of different kinds. In order to cope with this, you may need antipruritics and wear mask and clothing with long sleeves. When you  go to rural areas or mountainous areas for adventure or expedition, you need to watch animals like snake, and ant, and prepare some drugs for emergency  treatment. In such a hot summer day, people would have a canoe drifting in a stream to cool their body.

Autumn (from September to November) is a rather comfort season in Guangxi, it is warm, not hot and humid. But the ultraviolet ray is still strong because Guangxi is in a low latitude, then you may need to wear sunglass and sun cream to protect yourself. In Autumn, the temperature may drop a lot all of a sudden due to strong cold air from the north of China, so you may need to have a coat as backup. The south of Guangxi may also be hit by typhoon, you may need something like umbrella and raincoat. In an autumn day, you are suggested to climb mountains to see such a beautiful yellow scenery and to feel the magic from the nature.

Winter in Guangxi is not that cold as in the north of China, and it has an temperature about 15 degree, the north of Guangxi may be under zero degree, but it won’t last long. In winter, it rains little, and it is dry. You should wear warm clothes and need moisturizing lotion to protect your face and skin. In Guangxi, snow is a rare thing, but you may see frost or rime on mountains, and have a cold experience in outdoor.
